Devious Journal Entry

Wed Nov 2, 2011, 11:08 PM
Motivated by the brilliant minds that inhabit this exciting artistic community from now on I will venture forward to sharing my creations unpublished. I mean those drawings I do for my own amusement, spontaneous strokes where ideas are born or special orders.
Dedicated to the art 25 hours a day, sometimes it's hard to sit at the computer to answer all your kind words and encouragement but be assured that you touch my heart with each one of your comments.
4 years ago I opened this site to share not only my work but also share the knowledge acquired. I lost my password and took 2 years to recover it.
I am currently preparing a complete tutorial on acrylics to be shared through the journal. . feel free to ask anything that may be of utility.
Stand firm in the workplace.

A HOME FOR TRADITION

Sat Oct 6, 2007, 9:40 PM
I am a traditional artist. I like to be able to touch my works with my fingers, my brushes, my pencils. The feel of the canvas or paper caresses my heart and soul, brings out my emotions, and captivates my senses. It is said that "home is where the heart is"...and my heart is at home wherever I have my art supplies.

In this world of technological advances in digital imagery, traditional art does not seem to be as actively pursued as it once was. It is my fervent hope that it never becomes a lost art.

There are many outstanding traditional artists on deviantART. This is my salute to a few of them whose drawings are very well-executed, appealing to the eye, and indicative of their superb talent.

IT'S IN BLACK AND WHITE

Thu Sep 20, 2007, 2:12 PM
As anyone can see from a quick glance at my gallery paintings, I love colors. Be they vivid or muted, I use them in all their glorious hues. I enjoy the challenge of subtly blending one color into another.

However, I have a deep appreciation for images that are in black and white, particularly photographs. The shadow play adds a dimension to the pictures that charms my eyes. It is also a lesson in how to use colors to achieve the shading that these black and white photos show.

Apparent in many of my works is my fondness for the female form. The feminine beauty of women is compelling, and I think I will always find them extremely appealing.

I would like to highlight some photographers whose photographs are included among my favourites here on deviantART.

A BRIEF TRIBUTE

There are so many different styles and types of art that we view on deviantART. A multitude of artists share their creativity and works, and we are awed by what our eyes take in.

Yet, there is an art that is not represented here...and understandably so. This is a visual community. But, how many artists here have perhaps found inspiration from this person? How many might have even worked on paintings while listening to the Maestro? His artwork was not put on canvas; it instead filled our ears and soul.

With that, I bid a fond farewell to the voice of the century~

BECAUSE NICE MATTERS

Thu Aug 23, 2007, 10:37 PM
There are those people whose kindness always seems to be present. Whether it is shown by a complimentary word, encouragement, or a genuine interest in others, their thoughtfulness is displayed. And we are better people because of it.

This woman, AnnaKirsten, is one such individual. She is the epitome of the word "kind." She freely dispenses praise on others here on deviantART. Her astute mind and keen eye enable her to see into the art of others, and she writes comments to and about the artists whose works she views. She devotes much time to featuring deviantART members and their pieces on her page. She is a very involved member of this community. A positive influence.

Perhaps lost in all of that is her own art talent. She works with a multitude of different mediums. The following are examples of her works, so you can see the wide range of art she creates. These and more of her artwork can be seen in her gallery at annakirsten.deviantart.com/gal….

All beautiful paintings and images. We can almost see Anna's goodness in her works. A fine woman. A nice woman. One who deserves to be praised for that.

Thank you, Anna, for being you...

Because nice does matter.

UP CLOSE WITH THERESA'S DELIRIUM

I recently posted this new Deviation called THERESA'S DELIRIUM. There were comments made about the texture of the piece, as well as a request for a larger view of the painting.

Here are some closeup photographs of areas of the work that display more of the detail of this painting. I am hopeful these will show more of the three-dimensional quality to those who expressed interest.

MY ART BACKGROUND

Wed Jul 25, 2007, 11:18 PM
I am a self-taught draughtsman, painter, printmaker, and carver of wood. I began to draw at the age of 13, inspired by Hieronymus Bosch's paintings.

"PSYCHE"

My whole work is characterized by a poetic use of imagery. Themes such as nostalgia, enigma, eroticism, and myth are explored, sometimes in connection with ancient legends and sometimes based on the contrast of the real and the fantastic.

"MELTING WOMAN"

Initially my work was figurative, but it developed towards a more abstract style. Lately, figurative elements are re-emerging as symbolic compositions. My art is distinguished by precise and finely executed draughtsmanship of almost photographic exactitude. Even though the paintings have a contemporary look they are too academic in technique. Paint is applied smoothly and evenly in a varied and generally vivid palette that occasionally melts into dark shadows. I have produced large quantities of drawings and paintings that include portraits, surreal environments and abstract compositions. They can be seen in collections worldwide.

"FECUNDITY"

In short, my world is a happy mixture of dream and reality, fantasy and nostalgia, delight in nature, and a genuine love of humanity.

AN OBSERVER'S VIEW OF MY ART

Fall into the art of Leon Alegria. See him in his otherworldly sanctuary where humans and colors and shapes blend in a melodic harmony to stir the mind and tenaciously grip the emotions. Revel in his visual kaleidoscopes that are certain to arouse your passions and spark your wonder. Experience the surreal and bask in its beauty and form. Leave behind the ordinary and slip into the extraordinary. Live the dream.
